Welcome & About Us

The Institute of Measurement and control was formed on the 10th of May 1944 under the name of The Society of Instrument Technology. The Central England section (formerly the Midland section) was one of the first local sections to be formed. Today, the local section aims to bring together scientist and engineers from the various industries and academia in the midlands to promote and support engineering in the area of measurement and control in many industries ranging from aerospace and automotive industries to renewable energy and more. Industries in our region includes Alstom, Bombardier, Jaguar Land Rover, JCB, National Grid, Rolls-Royce, Tarmac and Toyota UK and many small and medium size companies. We have strong links with these local industries and universities in the region, and we aim to promote strong links and collaboration between them.
