The ES Stemless Valve by Oxford-Flow was awarded Best Mechanical Engineering Achievement Award by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and has also been named in the Top 10 Global technologies in the ADNOC Decarbonization Technology Challenge for eliminating fugitive emissions. This game changing technology from Oxford Flow’s ES Series valve is for use in the most demanding isolation and control applications.

This tech-talk will cover a select number of applications, focusing on where traditional solutions typically encounter challenges and will demonstrate how the Oxford-Flow design addresses and eliminate these issues, delivering improved performance, enhanced reliability, longer service life, and the added benefit of zero emissions.

The session will be delivered by Matthew Lackie (Business Development Manager) and Tony Brooke (Technical Advisor).

The section is involved in a variety of events. Our thanks are sent to all of the organisations that support the activities to encourage engagement in the area of Measurement, Control and Automation in the Central North West area. 

Technical Talks:

The section runs a series of technical talks each year, with usually a program of 8 to 10 events per year.

The course program aims to be varied in content throughout the year.

Topics have included:

  • Cyber security
  • Functional Safety
  • ATEX
  • Instrumentation advances
  • Process Connections
  • 3D printing and component manufacturing
  • User applications – measurement and control impact in decommissioning, remote monitoring and other applications
  • Digitalisation strategies
  • De-carbonisation of facilities and the considerations of the measurement and control aspects

Social Events

Awards Night - The section successfully runs an Annual Awards Night each October. The event attracts many companies each year and we are very grateful for the companies who support the us each year.  The only year the event hasn't run was 2019 due to COVID restrictions. The supporting companies from 2025 are:

Meet the team - In September 2024 we ran a meet the team event in Manchester, where members could discuss the activities of the section with some of the committee members. It was great to have a face-to-face networking event. 

Golf Day – In 2019 the section ran their first Golf Day for some time. The event was kindly sponsored by HTS Group and a great day was had by all. The repeat of the event is hoped once the COVID restrictions are fully eased.
