Herts: Growing in a Box: Controlled Environment for Plant Research

Since the early 1950’s plant researchers have been using a box, albeit temperature, humidity controlled and lit with artificial light to precisely control the growing conditions of plants 365 days a year.

Our speaker Julian Franklin, will discuss the evolution of these boxes (Controlled Environments) as well as how technology is being applied in modern horticulture/farming systems.

Julian is Technical Consultant Horticulture and Controlled Environments at Rothamsted Research.

He is Secretary to the UK Controlled Environment Users Group and is a member of DEFRA task forces regarding Scientific Licenses 2013-2019.
