Speaker: Peter Damer
Hardly a day goes by without some news about the latest breakthrough in the Internet of Things (IoT). The tech giants are spending billions on developing smart digital solutions for just about anything you can imagine. But what is an IoT and how do you get one? What if the ready-made world of Alexa, Fitbit and Nest leave you cold? As an engineer of course you want to make your own IoT, and in time for Christmas. If you don’t know where to start, this seminar is just what you’ve been waiting for.
The iPhone was only launched ten years ago. In just one decade almost the entire global population use their smart phones every day, if not every hour. Analysts believe the same sort of phenomenon is occurring for the connected digital world, or IoT. During this seminar the presenter will explain how low cost devices such as the Raspberry Pi can be used to deliver a digitally connected home. A small network of devices will demonstrate how electronics, programming, communications and cloud services combine to deliver a truly DIY IoT.
The presenter describes how he developed a low cost IoT system used to automate and monitor his home.
