InstMC response to reported return of imperial measurements

It was reported last week that Boris Johnson is set to announce the return of imperial measurements to mark the Queen’s platinum jubilee.

InstMC has been asked for its thoughts on the matter from a number of organisations and we have issued the following response:

“The Institute of Measurement and Control is committed to promoting high standards of professional competence in the fields of Measurement, Instrumentation, Automation, and Control.

As such we support a universal system of measurement based on the coherent and scientifically quantifiable base SI units.

An international system of measurement ensures best practice, knowledge, technological advances, and competency can be shared and understood the world over.”
